      The Fukui International Human Resources Development Center for Atomic Energy (FIHRDC-AE) was established on April 1, 2011 in Fukui Prefecture, a leading region in nuclear power, as a center for international nuclear human resources development.

      Along the coast of Wakasa Bay, Japan's first commercial light water reactor "Tsuruga Power Station Unit 1" started operation in March 1970. Thereafter in Fukui Prefecture, we have 15 nuclear reactors including those in the decommissioning phase: There have been located, constructed and operated 13 Nuclear Power Plants (NPPs), and 2 prototype reactors for research and development including the fast breeder reactor “Monju".

      Taking advantage of the unique concentration of those reactors experience of operation and maintenance, and research and development expertise, the center organizes and carries out a variety of training programs to ensure human resources for the safe operation and maintenance of NPPs both domestically and internationally, and to contribute to the global plan for the introduction of NPPs. Our center also promotes research cooperation and human resource exchange with domestic and international research institutions.

Specific initiatives include;

      FIHRDC-AE/WERC will continue our efforts to develop international nuclear human resources and strengthen our network through international conferences and workshops in various fields related to nuclear energy, such as research reactors and decommissioning, to meet your expectations.

      We appreciate your continuous understanding and support.
